SOMA’s first venture into the area of public art was a response to an international competition to “re-imagine the beach hut for the 21st century”, organised by Lincolnshire County Council. From more than 240 entries which came from across the world, our winning design was spotted by a professional environmentalist as ideal for bird-watching. After a few adaptations, the original beach hut was transformed into the world’s first 360-degree bird hide.
